ROTARY CLUB TENERIFE SUR SINCE 1983 AT THE SERVICE OF THE COMMUNITY

The Rotary Club of Tenerife Sur was established on 13 April 1983 and has had its headquarters at the Hotel Gran Tinerfe, Playa de las Américas, Adeje, since its foundation. The number of members has varied throughout its history, usually between thirty and forty, and they represent the cosmopolitan population of the south of Tenerife, with more than 10 nationalities and meetings held in Spanish.
Rotary recognises Rotarians' work through Paul Harris insignia. Paul Harris was one of the four founders of Rotary International in 1905 in Chicago. Many members of R.C. Tenerife Sur have received one or more Paul Harris awards.
The R.C. Tenerife Sur has supported entities in the south of the island and elsewhere in Tenerife, including the Centro de San Miguel, Orobal, Asociación San Juan, Perenquén, Alzheimer's families, Vivero Las Rosas, autism associations, voluntary fire services, local councils, parishes, Red Cross, Cáritas, Proyecto Hombre, AMATE, AECC, and many others.
It has also supported developing countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia through Foundation grants and direct aid, including a long-running paediatric project for Saharawi refugees in Tindouf from 1997 to 2006.
Since 2013 the club has run "Un niño, una comida un libro" (One child, one meal, one book), and from 2016 it has collaborated with R.C. La Laguna on university scholarships. Youth exchange has allowed over a hundred young people from the south of Tenerife to study abroad.
The club funds its projects through golf tournaments (since 1995), charity events, galas, and donations from Obra Social de la Caixa and others.
